Poverty Island Lighthouse was established in 1875, and now lies inactive and in ruins. At the south end of the island, this conical brick structure with attached quarters, has been left neglected and somewhat vandalized. Although in poor shape, the hope is that some group will rescue this historical Michigan site before it is beyond repair.
