Round Island Lighthouse was established in 1896 in the Straits of Mackinac. Its square/integral structure is made of brick. At one time, this light was in eminant danger of being destroyed by the elelments. Groups have since taken it over and fully restored the exterior of the light and keeper's quarters, and are still working on the restoration of the interior. It is accessible by boat.
